Feel the Cloud Nine Difference! Yes, the lather is great (outstanding, actually) and an important part of a good soap (and we are very proud of that), but first we would like you to pay particular attention to the rinse. As you rinse after washing your hands, you will notice something different: your hands will be more slippery than you are used to after having washed your hands with commercial soap. Now…. resist the natural temptation to continue rinsing. Just dry them off. The slippery feeling will quickly go away and leave your hands feeling unbelievably soft and moisturized. (Now imagine how your skin will feel when you come out of your shower or bath!) Smell the Cloud Nine Difference! There’s no such thing as "Pearberry", "Peach", "Green Apple" or "Cucumber Melon" essential oils. Fragrances are cheaper and have a much stronger, longer lasting scent/odor than essential oils (the actual scents distilled from plants and herbs), which is why many manufacturers use them in their soaps. Just read the label: if it says "fragrance" or "fragrance oils", it’s synthetic. Many people are highly allergic to synthetic fragrances, which is why public gatherings often request that attendees not wear scented body products. At Cloud Nine we do not use synthetic fragrances because only their manufacturer knows for sure what is in them. The FDA does not require fragrance manufacturers to disclose the ingredients of synthetic fragrances because these formulas are regarded as "proprietary". We do know that most fragrance oils contain anywhere from 500 to over 1000 different chemical compounds and that many of those are petroleum based, so we limit our scents to those we can obtain from natural sources. Our products are scented with essential oils, vegetable oils we infuse with herbs or blossoms, spices and/or herbs. We also make vegetable-based soaps with no essential oils. If you have very sensitive skin and/or are allergic to certain scents, try our pure castile soap. It is nothing but pure olive oil soap with a little palm and palm kernel oils and is extra mild. Yes, it is more expensive to scent our soaps with pure, natural essential oils. Yes, on average, natural scents are much more subtle. Once you begin using products with these natural oils, however, you will easily be able to discern the difference between a synthetic fragrance and a scent made by Mother Nature. See the Cloud Nine Difference! Many handcrafted and large commercial soap makers use mineral pigment (ochers/oxides), plant and/or synthetic dyes to color their soaps and make them look "appealing". We don’t. Here’s why: Cloud Nine soaps do not need these chemicals because we are a small producer and our soaps are generally sold and used within a few months of the day we make them. Although our soaps will last for several months from the date of purchase when properly stored, we recommend you USE them within six months of purchase. Unused bars should be stored in a cool, dry, dark place, like a cabinet or drawer. Do not leave them in a hot car or garage. Do not store them exposed to direct sunlight, as this will degrade the quality of the soap. After using your soap, allow it to dry by placing it on an uncovered soap dish, dry sponge or rack. Never leave your soap sitting in a puddle of water. Take care of your Cloud Nine soaps and they will continue to be a pleasure to use. AND OTHER STUFF YOU REALLY OUGHT TO KNOW ABOUT... Cloud Nine soaps contain only pure vegetable oils. It’s amazing that humans are so adaptable to all kinds of environments. Unfortunately, we aren’t 100% adaptable to everything in the environment, and we often suffer from allergies. People who have allergic sensitivities are always wary of ingredients in personal hygiene products, which could bring on or exacerbate an allergic reaction. At Cloud Nine we are very much aware of the issue of consumer education, individual sensitivities and allergic reactions. We clearly list everything that goes into making our soaps so that you, the consumer, know what you’re getting. Please read the labels. Some people are allergic to certain oils such as coconut. If you are one of these people, please try our castile bar instead. So why does Cloud Nine soap perform so much better than the soaps of commercial soap makers? Because commercial soap makers simply cannot cost-effectively do what we are doing at Cloud Nine. |
